If you love to "shop 'til you drop", then you can literally do that at Chatuchak weekend market. Commonly known as "J.J" (because it used to be spelled "Jatujak"), this market covers some 35 acres of land and has over 15,000 shops, making it the world's largest market. That's right people, they have everything you don't really need there, but you should go and buy them anyway (and for the experience of course). They've got puppies, ninja stars, amulets, watches, flowers, pythons, foods, dildos, clothes, and probably kryptonite too. Their slogan is "from toothpicks to battleships", they've got it all! The place is extremely crowded as it gets about 200,000 to 300,000 visitors on a given weekend. You've got to be in really good shape and a bit nut to cover the entire place in one day. I've never done it myself and don't plan to anytime soon. There are just so many things there and you'll probably be exhausted within an hour from the heat and all the walking. Let me know if you're crazy enough to have done it though.

Here are some tips I have for you:
  • Remember not to go there on weekdays as most shops are only opened on the weekend, and only then can you truly experience the head-spinning chaos that goes on there.
  • Eat a big breakfast before you go, as you'll need all the energies you can get.
  • Bring a large bottle of Gatorade. You should throw it in the freezer the night before, it'll defrost and be nice and cold by the time you get there.
  • Try to get there around 10:00AM or 10:30AM, that's when most shops are opened and the weather's a degree or two cooler.
  • Be mindful of pick-pockets and keep all your valuables in a safe (difficult to reach) place.
  • Master the art of bargaining
Hour:
  • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM on weekends and Fridays.
  • 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday for plant shops only.
How to get there:
  • BTS: Take the BTS (sky train) to the Mo Chit station.
  • MRT: Take the MRT (underground train) to the Kamphaengphet station.
