How to spot a scammer

You want to play a game called “spot the scammer”? Well…You can easily do this at any major tourist areas, such the area outside Wat Pra Keo or Wat Pho. These swindlers can be quite simple to pick out from the crowd, as they’re usually dressed in their customary uniform of button down shirt, slack and clean-cut hairdo. They may also try to appear "cool" by sporting a traditional Thai mustache and appear very friendly and wanting to help every passing by tourists. Their favorite accessory is a cell phone, as if to look like they’re some sort of businessman. Another confirmation is that just they’re just standing around for no rhyme or reason, and just appear totally out of place. You’ll also see them trying to start a conversation with every passing by tourists.

If you want to tell with absolute certainty, go ahead and humor yourself by talking to them. They’ll probably start out the conversation by asking where you’re from and pretend to have quite an interest in your home country. They’ll then move on to telling you about deals about some Government sponsored custom-made suits, gems, tickets to shows, or even gambling. The stories he’ll tell you are so incredulous that you’ll probably burst out in laughter. He’ll then know right away that you’re on to him and he’ll just move on to find another sucker.
